Brian Kinney is a successful ad man living and working in Pittsburgh.

He's been in a long term relationship with Dr. David Cameron- an older guy who divorced his wife after coming out as gay a few years prior to moving to Pittsburgh from Portland Oregon.

Their somewhat picture perfect relationship starts to crack after David keeps voicing his will to go back to Portland to spend more time with his Ten year old son.

Brian wishes to stay in the Pitts where he opened his own agency and built a name for himself.

Staying in Pittsburgh means he could stay close to his own son Gus- whom he fathered with Lindsay, a lesbian collage friend almost a decade ago.

While David is away in Portland Brian decides to go out one night to his favorite gay bar Woody's with his old 'gang'.

That's where he meets Justin Taylor, a strikingly beautiful yet rather dejected young artist.

After way too many drinks Justin has to leave early with no further explanation.

Dr. David comes back to the Pitts but things continue to go downhill for him and for Brian.

Brian –who used to be a frequent visitor at some of Liberty Avenue's well known clubs and baths years ago -is left bitterly disillusioned a couple of weeks later when one of his friends 'spills the beans' about spotting Dr. David searching for random tricks the other night at the baths.

Brian is outraged and hurt but doesn't say a thing.

A few weeks later when David leaves to visit his son in Portland again Brian decides to call Justin and invite him over for the weekend to the beach house he owns in Provincetwon.

After spending the night together Justin opens up and tells Brian about his own issues- having been recently separated from his partner of six years, the guy Justin though would be THE one since he's been with him and his twin boys -who were born via a surrogate mother- from the time they were one year old.

Justin's confession takes Brian by surprise.

The weekend is over way too soon.

Brian arrives to the loft and learns that David is back.

David confronts Brian, inquiring where he's been all weekend and why he wouldn't answer his calls and text messages.

Brian doesn't hold back this time. He tells David he knows he's been sneaking out at nights to search for tricks.

Then Brian admits he's been cheating on David with Justin. He tells him he and Justin had spent the weekend together at the beach house.

David puts an ultimatum to Brian. Either they leave the Pitts, move to Portland and continue their life together as if nothing has happened or break up and go their separate ways.

For a split second Brian feels he can't just write off the past five years of himself and David living together- but he also knows he can't continue as if nothing happened.

Brian and David break up.

David goes back to Portland.

Brian remains in Pittsburgh, spending his long Eighteen hours days to his advertising agency and his nights with Justin- at the loft and then at Justin's apartment down town.

Both men feel they could get used to their unconventional way of life even if it's rather time consuming and counterproductive, having to commute back and forth between two places with their ever expending family- Justin's Six year old twin boys and Brian's Twelve year old son.

They can't deny their feelings for each other. They can't deny the way they both help each other be touched again, trust again, love again each and every day ever since the first time they met. But coming off of their respective previous broken long term relationships they're both inclined to take it in their stride.

Driving to West Virginia one weekend during the boys' spring breaks from school they spot a large vacant country house.

Justin suggests they go check the place out.

While exploring the Ten specious bedrooms and a state of the art kitchen everyone-including a reluctant Brian- agree the place seems more than inviting.

A stroll in the vast gated garden, stables and pool seals the deal and they decide to make an offer on the house first thing Monday morning.

Driving back to the Pitts to drop Gus off at Lindsay's apartment and Justin and his boys at their place neither of them talk much.

Later that night they can't stop talking.

They KNOW it's a huge step.

They know all too well what it entails.

They know what's at stake.

They're buying a HOME. Together. For THEIR families.

They're creating their own place.

They're about to create their own future.

It can't just be a spare of the moment-spring fever decision.

They've got to be sure.

As dawn breaks they know it's not just any new day.

They know it's a new LIFE.

And they're feeling good.

Love this, but do you realize that there could be so much more to this story. If you used this part as an outline chapter it could be a wonderful long story about Brian and Justin creating a beautiful life together. Please think about it.

I can't see this as a one-shot. I see it as an outline to a longer story, with more details. Please!

Thank YOU so much for taking the time to read and comment. Your beautiful supportive feedback means a lot to me. The initial idea for this story has been with me for quite a while, long before this lovely monthly challenge, tbh.
A multi chapter AU series is def in the works but it might take a while :)
