-Britin, Late Saturday night-
"So… how's it going Daph?" Justin welcomes his old time friend-and the biological mother of his and Brian's son- when they start their weekly Skype update after he'd put two year old Declan to bed for the night.
"It has been challenging, I'll say that, especially with Christmas and everything…" Daphne says.
"Guess it wasn't easy being away from home over the holidays," Justin answers. "Well… I mean you have your hubby and YOUR son out there with you in Cali but still…" Justin smiles softly. Even though he never reconciled with his own father and never even got a phone call from him after his son was born he couldn't even think of spending the holidays without his mom and his younger sister Molly as well as with the rest of their extended family and he couldn't wait for them all to descend upon Britin on Christmas Eve, not to mention HE was fortunate enough to have HIS husband and his own son beside him.
"Well, yeah, that wasn't easy," Daphne admits "But that was only part of it. LOOK what I had to deal with," she says, reaching out to try and tilt the camera a bit so Justin could get a full view of her living room.
"Oh, wow…" Justin can't help but giggle snort when he notices heaps of boxes containing colorful array of baby's clothes, toys, activity centers and a whole bunch of small knick-Knacks.
"My family apparently thought I live on the moon, NOT on the west coast," Daphne comments and wrinkles her nose. Dan says we might have to build another room just to store all of that stuff until next Christmas ," she laughs. "It's been a few days since New Year's and I'm still unpacking some of the things they sent me…" she continues. "I mean… I do appreciate the fact they wanted Josh's first Christmas to be special since they couldn't get here but… they went a bit overboard…"
Justin smiles at his friend and silently pulls his lips inward.
"What is it Justin? Was it something I said?" Daphne smiles right back as she noticed his facial expression.
"Well… you know…" Justin starts.
"Oh… sorry about that, I totally forgot about your's and Brian's present… I told you things have been hectic here… " she says.
"It's okay, it's over there, I can see it now," Justin points out. "You can still open it. Now is as good as time as ever. And just so you know Brian and I picked it together," he continues.
"Oh… should I be careful then? Good thing I put Josh to bed already, " she snorts.
"Umm… we'll see about that," Justin giggles.
"K… there we go…" she says as she eventually rescues the unopened large box from under the pile in the corner of the living room. "Awww Justin… thank you… this is SO cute, I always wanted one of these for him," she chirps as she carefully rips the wrapping paper. "It's that pop Pitty Pop Musical Dino from FisherPrice! Josh would love it. He's just about the right age for it now. All my favorite parenting blogs recommend it,"
"Well of course they do," Brian joins the conversation, walking in from his den looking ravishing even at this time of night, wearing his warn out brown sweat pants a white tee shirt.
"Oh hi there, Brian… yes, I should have known you'll go for something like that," she lets out a short giggle.
"I'll be the first person to strive for the right amount of enticing advertising of ANY product," Brian explains wholeheartedly "So when I saw they promised 'Tones of Balls, Tones of Action' on the label we simply couldn't resist, didn't we, Sunshine?" Brian leans into HIS husband and plants soft cheeky kiss on his lips.
"Briaaan…" Justin tries-in vain- to control his hubby. "Don't mind HIM Daph," he jokes at his friend.
"I WON'T, you guys," Daphne smiles back.
"I'm sure Josh would enjoy it," Justin says "But I'm not sure you and Dan would approve. The sales guy did mention these things can get quite noisy," Justin points out.
"BUT he was kinda cute," Brian intervenes.
"I'm SURE he was," Daphne chuckls. "Oh and Dan says hi," she informs her friends.
"Tell him we said hi back," Brian winks.
"And by the way… did you see what we got YOU for Declan?" she asks.
"Well of course we did, and he LOVES it. He can't wait to brush his teeth with it every evening before bed," Justin reports, referring to the Banana shaped toddler tooth brush Daphne sent over as her Christmas gift for the two year old boy.
"You can never start too early with those bananas, " Brian teases, only to be told off again by his husband and his friend.
"Okay guys.. guess we'll be signing off now. Time for some mommy and daddy fun time, " she sends an evil grin as Dan, her husband, waves behind her back.
"To each his own, I guess," Brian snorts and shrugs "Later," he then waves happily.
"Love ya, see you later, Daph…" Justin smiles sweetly before he signs off.
"Guess it's time for US to go to bed for some daddy and daddy fun time now, don't you think, Sunshine?" Brian lets out a low moan and grabs Justin to pull him closer.
"Don't mind if I do, stud," Justin groans "Why don't I just grab that BOINK box someone bought me for Christmas?" he pouts seductively.
" Hmm… that could be an interesting interpretation on tones of balls, tones of action… " Brian agrees in a gravely lust filled voice, " And That's definitely a possibility, " he adds as he's racing his blond upstairs.
