Part 2

"So ...what did they say?" Daphne asks curiously over the phone.

"You won't believe this, but they approved it!" Justin exclaims.

"You must be thrilled!" she replies agape, happy for her friend, but somewhat surprised that they would agree.

"To tell you the truth, I don't know what's the most thrilling – the fact they gave me a green light, or the fact that I'm actually going to go through with this...for real," Justin says in a somber voice.

"I guess you do have a couple of important details to consider," Daphne says, "such as where the whole thing will take place, and most importantly, which hot, hunky guy it will be with..."

Daphne's voice is calm, and Justin knows she doesn't mean to irritate him or discourage him, since she's always been there for him, but he realizes to his consternation that she's right.

Justin came out when he was 17, and while he has experienced an occasional fling, it has never been anything too serious. He's still a virgin.

He wouldn't want his first time to be meaningless. He knows he can't expect guys to jump at the opportunity to fuck in public just for the sake of art, no matter how appealing it might be to plow into his tight, virgin ass. Besides, he wouldn't want someone who was only interested in doing that, anyway. He wants more.

He supposed he could contact one of those 'rent boys' agencies and ask them to send him a young, smooth-skinned boy who probably wouldn't think twice about exposing himself in front of an audience, but since it's his idea to use the experience as an artistic endeavor and not as a replacement for some glorified porn flick, it didn't take long for him to scratch that option off his list.

"Are you there, Justin?" Daphne asks after a few minutes, knowing her friend is probably thinking too much already.

Justin came out of his reverie to reassure her, "I'm still here. I was just thinking about what you said yesterday...I don't want people to feel all I think about is fucking, I don't want my piece to be about that. But on the other hand I'm making a statement here, and I need to stand behind it. I want it to be real... You know?"

Daphne smiles in understanding. "I know," she tells him as he nods.

"Thanks for saying that, Daph," Justin replies gratefully. He knows he's very lucky to have Daphne by his side. It doesn't really matter that he's a gay, young man and she's a straight girl, because he knows they share a similar viewpoint.

"If there's anything you need, you know where to find me, right? " Daphne responds.

"What I need right now is to find the guy, and as much as I love and appreciate you as a friend, I think this is something I need to do myself," Justin informs her gently.

"Hey, that is not the Justin Taylor I know and love," Daphne teases before her face softens sympathetically. "I know that if you really want to go through with it, though, you'll find a way..."

"You know I don't believe in any of that Pollyanna crap," Justin reminds her with a smile.

"I know, but... I believe in you, so stop feeling sorry for yourself and move on with your plan. You were able to convince the entire school board of PIFA, weren't you? That means a lot. Plus you said you wanted to stick it to them , right?"

Justin laughed. "I know how much you want to be a gay man, Daph. But I think I may have done a little too much to encourage you," he decides.

Daphne grins. "Speaking of gay men...how about that place you took me to once about a year ago over on Liberty Avenue? That club... Babylon? I remember there were quite a few hot guys there. Tucker is at a teacher's conference tonight, so I could help you," she tells her friend with a sparkle in her eye. "We could go check that place out together!"

"Are you suggesting what I think you're suggesting?" Justin asks, smirking to himself as he listens to his friend, already knowing the answer.

"There's no harm in looking, is there?" she asks. "So, what do you say? Pick you up at 11 p.m.?"

Justin laughs in resignation. "Okay, my cohort in crime; let's go for it," he decides. He grins as he hears a shriek of delight from his friend, just before he hangs up the phone.
