Part 9

"Who the fuck is this guy?" Debbie lashes out when she sees a young man, about twenty years old, sitting across the table from Ben at the police station.

"Relax, Ma!" Michael says. "This is Cody what's his face. Shit, I can't even remember his last name."

"So?" Debbie asks in anger.

"Mr. Novotny-Bruckner?" A dark haired women dressed in a gray, tailored suit asks as she enters the room. "I'm Melanie Marcus from Marcus-Schmidt and Associates and this is my partner, Ted." She points at the man beside her, a salt-and-pepper-haired guy around Michael's age, dressed in a dark brown suit and a gray tie.

"We're your husband's appointed defense attorneys," the woman explains. "And by the look of it I have to admit he doesn't stand a very good chance."

"Wait… what's this all about?" Michael looks shocked.

"According to Cody's admission your husband sexually attacked him a couple of nights after Hope House was opened. Cody, who was a minor at the time, admitted he kicked Mr. Bruckner in the leg, but it was only in self-defense," the other guy, Ted, continues, leafing through a few pages in his folder.

"This is bullshit!" Michael screams. "It's a lie. What does it have to do with the shooting that night at the center, anyway?" he looks up to his mom in desperation.

"They police are still investigating," Ms. Marcus answers "They have a witness, but they still can't be sure."

"It's been a fucking four years and all of a sudden Ben is the suspect?" Michael cries.

"We're trying our best here; hang in there," Melanie requests as she shrugs her shoulders.

_ _ _ _

"Brian, thank God you're here!" Debbie calls out as Detective Kinney enters her hallway dressed in a short, black leather jacket and tight black jeans. "Any news about Ben?" she inquires.

"Not much, really." Brian says quietly, his eyes now locked on Justin's petite figure curled barefooted in front of the TV in Debbie's living room, wearing an oversized T shirt and some baggy, gray pants. His hair seems damp from a shower he probably took earlier. Brian clears his throat. "I just wanted to let you know we're keeping him in custody for a couple more nights at the precinct. I've already informed Michael. It's just until we figure things out." He reaches out to Debbie to give her a quick hug.

"And how are you holding up...?" He turns to Justin.

"I'm hanging in there," Justin informs him. "I actually had a bit of a progress on my big project for school. It's due in less then fourteen days. I hope I'll be out of here by then. No offense, Debs." He hastily adds.

Brian finds himself mesmerized by the blond guy's full, luscious lips as he speaks.

The sharp tone of his phone leaves him a bit shaken and he gives one more look at both Debbie and her house guest before he heads back to the station.

I look forward to seeing how you tie things up in the next chapter!

Things certainly seem complicated for the entire gang.

I like this way how Brian see and look at Justin... I feel as if I was in his head (and heart maybe) and can feel it by myself...

I just realized I read both this and the last chapter and forgot to comment for this one. Was too eager to get to the last chapter. :D

So just wanted to say I loved this chapter also.
