Part 9
"Guys? What are you all doing here? " Justin tries to act surprised as everyone arrives at the resort. "Brian?" Justin tries to put on an act even though his heart is racing.
"What the fuck are you doing here in Fire Island?" Brian is trying to act on it himself but his heart is pounding like crazy as does his dick.
"Oh, well… you know, It's the 4th of July weekend, our community has a lot to celebrate so we figured why not go for it?" Ted intervenes.
"This way please, ladies and gentleman." A hot waiter pops out of nowhere and leads them into a specious area overlooking the ocean and the beach.
Justin nods at Michael while Emmett quietly nods at Brian.
"Can we offer you anything to drink?" Another hot waiter asks, holding a tray of already filled champagne glasses.
The gang gathers around. It's early evening but the sun is still rather high in the sky so they're all wearing shades.
"Say something!" Michael whispers to Ben. "Anything but dearly beloved."
"So guys," Ben clears his throat. "Who knew nine years ago when Michael and I got married in Canada that a day would come and we would all be able to obtain equal rights? I know we still have a long fight ahead of us but I say let's be happy with what we've got. So let's raise our glasses and…"
"Brian Kinney, will you marry me?" Justin bursts in, quickly opening a small box Michael handed out to him behind his back during Ben's speech.
"What the fuck???" Brian huffs and grins widely.
"Will you???" Justin bends down on one knee as Lindsay, Emmett and Ted all sniff their noses in unison.
"I was about to ask you the same fucking question. For the third time." Brian says and presents Justin with a small box Emmett quickly handed him behind his back while Ben spoke.
Justin stands still. He keeps his mouth open for a few seconds until Michael taps him gently on his shoulder.
"Yes!" He says eventually.
Brian and Justin take their sunglasses off to gaze into each other's eyes and then move closer together. They put their engagement bands on each other's fingers and lock their lips tight while wrapping their arms around each other's necks as if there's no one else around but them.
Michael cheers on and starts clapping, quickly followed by a tearful Emmett. All their friends happily join in with a spontaneous round of applause.
After they break the kiss Brian leans his forehead against Justin's and lets out a sigh of relief. They stand together with their lips pressed to each other as the rest of the gang moves inside to enjoy some refreshments.
"I still can't believe I let you set me up like this." Brian whispers in a gravely voice. "And the answer is yes, by the way."
"You conspired with Emmett against me but I'm willing to forgive you. For now." Justin replies, his hand comfortably resting on Brian's chest.
"You're not getting away unpunished either." Brian says, capping Justin's face with both his hands.
"Just as long as you remember that hunting season is officially over." Justin smirks.
Right at that moment a splash of colorful fireworks explodes into the deep blue purple skies.
Brian looks at Emmett with a raised eyebrow.
"I didn't do that." Emmett shrugs and smiles back. "It's 4th of July, remember?"
"How can I forget?" Brian smiles and presses another deep kiss on Justin's lips.
