Justin's POV
A/N:Written for EKG bday project just for you my darling mander.

"I thought you were never coming home." I hear his voice so close, yet so distant.

"Why wouldn't I?" I answer, so in need of touching him.

"You set sail to conquer the art world, just as that art critic said."


I think this is the closest he's come to being miserable even though he's always said he doesn't do self-pity. I know he's been missing me like crazy because I feel the same way. "Brian . . ." I whisper.

"Don't . . ." he cuts me off.

I reach over to touch his face. He smells like booze and weed and sandalwood. He smells like himself.

He doesn't turn his face away. He lets me caress his stubble, run my fingers across his cracked lips, kiss the tender creases near his eyes.


"I'm here," I whisper.

"I told you before. Don't sacrifice your dreams to be with me and call it love." He sounds as if he's trying to convince himself. I know he's hurting inside.

"You also told me that it doesn't matter if we don't see each other next week or next month . . . that it's only time. I know when my time is up. I can't be alone anymore. I feel lost. I can't even finish one fucking painting. That is not what I want," I tell him. "This is what I want." I lean into him, nestling my face into the crook of his neck.

We still stand in Britin's hallway - the only place that feels like home.
