"Am… I interrupting anything?" I ask as I walk into their spacious living room.
"Not at all…" Brian answers with his signature tongue in cheek. His hair seems disheveled and the buttons of his brown dress shirt undone.
He tries to sit upright on the brown leather sofe. Justin's blond head surfaces from behind him.
I knew Brian Kinney well before Justin Taylor knew him. Well… I knew him in a way even Michael never did. He definitely wasn't the shy quiet type. but I've never seen Brian Kinney so embarrassed .
"Sorry to barge in like that" I eventually brake the weird silence. Justin smiles coyly and begins to cough silently.
"I… I actually wanted to return a favor " I say. I don't remember the last time I mumbled like that. I look around the room. They already brought in the rug, the coffee table and a few paintings.
The dinning room table and a few chairs stand in the corner, but the rest of the furniture are still scattered around covered with dust sheets and there are unpacked boxes and buckets of paint on the floor.
"When Michael and I moved into our house Justin was there to help us paint and redecorate, so I told him he could use my help when you guys will have a place of your own," I explain. "So… now that you do I wanted to keep my promise. "
Brian smiles at me and then gazes at Justin who seem to be searching for something.
"Looking for that?" I ask quietly, lifting a pair of brown pants from the floor. He nodded and I throw them at his direction.
He puts his pants on then folds his knees under him, moving closer to Brian . They look right at me but they can't take their hands off of each other.
"Well, I can tell you're getting along just fine here, so I better be going" I say, waving to them. "Let us know if you need anything. Don't worry. I'll see myself out".
"Thanks, anyway" Justin giggles.
On my way to the drive way I make a note to myself I'll never go back there without knocking.
