It's a beautiful sunny day when I walk down the street, alone, for the first time. My eyes are burning from the light and my knees are shaking. I try not to let people bump into me. This was a bad idea. I'm not ready yet.
But then I see him standing there with his arms wide open. I try to stay focused. I can feel the energy in my veins.
I see him whisper something, but I can't hear him. I walk faster. A few more steps and I’m safe, protected in his embrace.
“I wasn't sure I could do it,” I tell him, my face buried into the crook of his neck.
"I was," he says. That's all I need to hear. He moves his head then, his upper lip catching my lower lip, and we stand there in the street, kissing.
"What was that for?" I ask him as we finally break the kiss, amazed by the fact he just kissed me in the middle of Liberty Avenue.
"You know how much I love sex in public places," he answers, his voice low.
’I love you too, Brian Kinney, don't you ever change’ I think to myself.
