so,I'm enjoying my nightly QaF marthons on my DVD's (omg, the things you could see on a dvd are totally different than what's seen on YT,I tell ya =D ) so as I'm rewatching all through S2 I got to a fork in the road, and I stopped.
can you guess why is that? ok,if your answer is "216" than you desreve an A+ ...
it's where the "marathon of pain" begins (thank you Xie for that Brilliant title, btw ) and as much as I promised myself I'll watch it all the way trough,up until 307,I can't bring myself to do it. it's just too painfull.I mean the way BJ just went completely off track and kept hurting themselves... oh,yeah, and the're is Ian,obviously ;)
so,can you help me out here Flist?
I'd love to hear what you think on that subject.

Funny you should ask this question... I just watched all five seasons this January and 304 to 308 twice. Yesterday being the last time, I never saw the show when it was on the air originally and the first episode I saw was on 308 Logo and I was hooked.

So my first time through the DVD's it broke my heart in half and I hated Ian, but I felt like Brian brought it on himself a lot... Now that I've become totally obsessed with Brian and the show I can see that Brian was trying very hard to be what Justin wanted, but he struggled with his mantras and coming to grips with what he really wanted.

When I watched the DVD's after that I always fast-forwarded through the Ian parts... But this last time I watched it all the way through, and contrary to what I thought. Ian didn't go after Justin, Justin pursued Ian over and over again... He always broke the rules. It's like he finally got what he wanted and then just threw it all away, it's not like he didn't know who Brian was...

So that makes me sad and seems like a place that needs to be explored in a good fic...

thanks for that,hon.
I'm a huge BJ fan.so it's not that easy for me to say who's fault was it. in fact I think that it might have been easier for me if I could just balme one of them and jastify the other.
but... I can't. It breaks my heart to see them on that emotional rollarcostar, esp after they were getting along so well for the better half of S2.
btw, I know some ppl might say it was mainly b/c of the bashing that their relationship grew stonger, but I belive it was more than that.
*hugs you back*

I'm of no help here, hon. I do not watch last eps of s2, I start s3 from 307, and God save me! to watch 513. I'm a coward but I HATE seeing Brian hurt. The strange thing is it's ok with me when he hurts Justin. But he NEVER broke the rules. Justin did. And he cheated. And I HATE Ian though I know it was Justin's fault, not his.
Maybe somewhen later I'll come down, and will be able to watch not so emotionally. (WTF! Bullshit! It'll never happen, and I know it. The emotions are always there, right?)

oh,you're a big help here, hon. your comment supports my decision to skip those painfull eps. omg,I have to admit I find "it's your call" much harder to watch than "it's only time" *sighs*
and once again,I can't bring myself to put the blame on either of them.they were both a part of it,imo =[
thanks hon
*hugs you*

I prefer to fast forward and stop to watch bits and pieces of those episodes. Oddly, a couple of the bits and pieces I think are hot have Ian in them. When Justin first goes to his apartment for "his song" and he steps up onto the bed and they kiss, for some reason that's hot. (I know, I know! I am ashamed of myself and duly and mortified!) I think it's because that was before we knew that Ian was a pompous, smug, in-the-closet ass. Really only that scene and when Justin first sees him playing and at the art show are the only scenes I'll watch of those episodes. None with Brian; they hurt too much to see the pain in his eyes. Oh no, wait! There is one with Brian! When he offers Ian the job when they're in the diner and Brian is looking so beautifully-stunningly-Brian and Ian is looking well, poor and Brian says "there's nothing noble about being poor." Yay, Brian!

Anyway, that's my take for what it's worth! There might be other storylines going on with other characters during those episodes but for the life of me I can't remember what they are! LOL

Hugs, Cindy

O, that's so nice to read :)
I do really liked the first J/E lovemaking scene. And I agree, the J/E scenes didn't hurt me much, but the B/J scenes did.

thanks so much for your comment, hon.you've been a great help. I love the way you describe Ian,only I can't remember thinking he was hot LOL
oh,yeah, and the "there is nothing noble about being poor" ;) you got to love Brian.right? in fact the only reason I can bare to watch early S3 is to see how much Brian needed to be close to Justin *sighs*
and I agree with you about not carying much about other storylines at that point ;)

I struggled with many storyline arcs throughout the seasons, but I made my peace with this one after watching it carefully a few dozen times-lol!

When it comes to Brian Kinney, you need to realize he speaks on more than one level, and often the key to what he is trying to say is not verbal at all. Justin knew that in S1 "I'm on to you" and lost the ability to "read" Brian after the bashing right up until Ian cheats on him and he realizes that what he always believed defined true love (hearts and flowers) was pure bullshit.

I wrote a short drabble series "A Simple Melody in Six Parts" a while back, that was basically me trying to clear all this up in my own brain. Here's a link, maybe it will help.

thanks so very much for your comment, hon.I agree with what you say,and I think that the fact they lost the ability to "read" and communicate with each other in their own special way is what I find most difficult in the first breakup.
thanks so much for the link.I belive I read it before, but I'll be delighted to go there again, since I'm a bit addicted to your fics ;)
many thanks,hon

For some reason it's way easier for me to watch 3.01-3.07 than it is to watch the last 5 episodes of Season 2, so no, I don't think I'm a big help here either.

I think S3 is easier for me, because they don't hurt each other anymore there. They're done - for now - and can sort their feelings and thoughts, while in S2 they're just hurting each other (and me!).

As you know I'm a full hearted Justin-girl and my heart breaks everytime for my boy in the end of S2... so I can say, I don't watch those episode either. I just use them for videos...

you've been a big help,Steffi, with your amazing insights and uniqe pov's which I love.
I find it easier to watch early S3 too, because it's where Brian,in his own way, decides to prove to Justin he's still around ;)
I know you're a Justin-girl,hon,and I thank you for giving me another prespective on things, even though ,as you know I'm a BJ fangirl ;)
thanks hon!
huge hugs
