Chapter 1
Brian's POV

People say we might break up now that Justin is away in New York City. I can't believe they would think that. In fact, I don't give a shit. The only thing I care about these days is keeping us together.

Justin was just here over the weekend. I sent him a ticket and he showed up at the loft. His hair was all messy, just how I like it… just as I remembered.

We curled up in bed. I just wanted to touch him, to feel him close.

The sex came later, and it was gentle, not rushed, just how I wanted it… just as our bodies both needed and craved. He allowed me to spoon him and closed his eyes in sleep.

I wasn't able to sleep.

I never thought it would be so tough. I'm not a hero. I know we both decided this was what's best for us.

But I missed him.

I missed not having him near me. I missed him even when he was here in my arms. I don’t care if that sounds too lesbianic. I wanted him to do well, but I did want him close by, too.

The next morning while he drank his coffee and I drank my guava juice, he told me he was searching for an agent. I admit I resented the idea of Justin having an agent. Not because I didn't want some horny artsy type to fawn all over him, but because I didn't think Justin was the kind of guy who would sell his art. But that's the way things work, though, and I should know better. I do this for a living.

I reached out and caressed his blond mop of hair. I didn't say anything. Same old routine. I wasn’t about to say anything, only to regret it later. Not good.

"Justin…" I started (what the fuck), "do you think it's a good idea to have an agent?"

He looked back at me with those huge bright blue eyes and didn't answer.
