In my family we use many German words and terms, including a name for this kind of blanket, but since I'm not sure we're using it the right way I just had to ask.

Decke or Bettdecke

I don't think it was a special blanket, wasn't it?
It was just a blanket. :)

So, "Decke" or/and "Bettdecke" should be what you're looking for.

There's also "Wolldecke", but I don't think that this was a woollen blanket.

Besides "Decke" also "Tuchent" comes to my mind. But I think that one's mostly used in Austria.

Btw, I'm pretty sure that that's one of my icons. ;)

Hope you are doing good!

Carmen!! so glad to hear from you *hugs* we use a different word,so it's maybe a nickname or something my grandmother used as a kid and it ran in the family, because it sounds like "perene" (there is pbbly no such word in German,LOL )
oh,is that your icon? sorry about that.
I'm doing ok,how about you??
I hope everything is ok with you. have a great 2011,hon.
*hugs you*

When you asked the question, what I first thought about was a Daunendecke (a duvet, filled with down). And then I read your "perene" which sounds almost exactly like the Russian words for Daunendecke. :D

oh,now that makes a lot of sense, because my grandmother's parents came to Germany from Russia way back in the 1900's...
so, now that I figured that out I can go back to my beloved perene LOL
thanks hon
*hugs you*
