Brian's pov

During the day I keep busy. Ted and Cynthia help to keep my head above water. In the afternoons I call him, and we talk until the shadows of early evening fill the loft.
At night I can't sleep. I talk to him. Not out loud - I'm not that desperate – but in my head.

I go back to where our long and winding road started: Our first night.

'The first night with you was everything I ever wanted, everything I never had,' ‘his’ words echo inside of me.

"I know I told you I wanted you to always remember it, but I said it for myself, as well. It was
my first night, too. You asked me to take it easy. You didn't even have to ask. I felt I needed to be gentle with you, even though I still believed that love was something only straight people do.

“I still had no idea I would go through all of those things I was trying so desperately to run away from all my adult life. I didn't yet know that no matter how scared I would be by getting closer to you, I would be even more terrified about losing you.

“I still had no idea how much I'll be willing to sacrifice. Not because you asked me, but because I wanted to.

“That night I only felt your softness, your excitement, your youth. Your breathing becoming more passionate as your body opened up towards me, wanting more.

“The next morning I said I didn't remember your name. I saw the disappointment in your sweet face, and it broke my heart to see how you tried to hide it.

“I told you that you could see me in your dreams. Little did I know… Now I'm lying here, alone, while you're off following your dream.

“I know you'll be back sooner or later, because you'll never forget my first night with you.”
