Justin spent the next day at his studio, working on a huge canvas, filling it with wide brush strokes that created two golden-brown figures lying against a dark brown background.
Just as he took a step back to view the entire composition and figure out if he should add a large abstract ivory colored flower-like shape on the right hand side, his cell phone rang.
He wiped his hands on his sweats, leaving large chocolate brown spots,
and grabbed his phone to answer it.
"Feeling better now?" Brian asked, sounding a bit anxious.
"Yeah, I'm fine, I guess. I'm working at the studio."
"Good," Brian continued, still not completely at ease. "Daphne called me an hour ago."
"Why did she call you?" Justin's voice sounded shallow.
"Because you didn't answer when she tried to call you," Brian answered back, trying not to sound too harsh.
"She wanted to know if you're going to your high school reunion."
"And what did you tell her?"
"Nothing."
