"So, are they emailing invitations to high school reunions these days?" Brian tried to laugh, but he couldn't avoid the sudden knot in his stomach.
"I don't even know how they got my new email address," Justin said.
Brian was relived Justin spoke, as it was the first sound or move he had made since he had
entered the room. Brian didn't really know what to say to him about this new 'twist'.
"Don't worry about it," Brian whispered, reaching out to hold Justin's hand.
"That's what you said the last time," Justin whispered back.
"I also said lots of other things," Brian answered, still holding his lover by the palm of his hand.
"So you've told me, but I still can't remember anything," Justin replied. "I can't, Brian. I'm not going. I don't need to be there. We don't need this. I thought things had changed, but I guess everything is still the same."
"I guess you're right," Brian sighed, and reached his arm out to wrap it
around Justin's small frame.
"I still feel the same about you. The same way I felt that night." As Brian covered both of them with the soft duvet he leaned over to kiss the tears in Justin's eyes.
