Part 7

"I Never fucked Mel, if you must know," Brian bites his lower lip. " But anyway...she never allowed me to see him." he continues quietly. "For years after that I thought I was a shitty person and probably an even shittier father, but I had no way of knowing because I never had a chance to experience it, to know what it meant. I always wanted to have a relationship and yes even a family with you, you twa… Sunshine but I was scared shitless that I might screw up, not because of what Mel did but because… fuck! Because I keep thinking I don't deserve this, I don't deserve you." Brian empties what's left in the beer bottle and lights a cigarette.

"So now you have a second chance to be a dad, only I'm out of the picture." Justin sighs. "Congrats." He slowly gets up from the rug and gestures to Emmett. "And by the way, I won't need this huge house. You can sell it for all I care. I won't live here alone while you're busy playing house some place else. Oh and one last thing...Does she know you're gay? Have a nice life, Brian. I simply don't care anymore. Come on Emmett, we're leaving."

Justin's attempts to ignore his iphone fail after the damn thing keeps ringing relentlessly. He moves away from a large canvas in his studio and reluctantly answers as he notices the caller's ID.

"How's the breeder's life treating you? Have you turned into a lesbian yet? " Justin lashes out.

"Will you shut up and listen for a moment?" Brian replies at the other end of the line.

"That's a strange request coming from you, considering we haven't seen each other or spoken in almost six months," Justin growls.

"I moved back to the loft. With you living and working in New York there is really no point in keeping the house unless…" Brian stops in mid-sentence.

"Unless what?" Justin continues Brian's sentence. He's a bit agitated yet not completely oblivious to the fact that he and Brian are somehow sliding back into their familiar banter as if they haven't been apart since early summer.

"Unless you're willing to do me the honor and raise my kid with me as a legal parent," Brian suddenly responds.

"What the fuck?" Justin replies.
