"Do you really have to go?" Brian asked, stretching his toned legs on the mattress, his bare toes slightly touching Justin's. they were still fully clothed.
"Come on, it's only for a week, I'll be back before you know it", Justin replied "and I know
how much you love the welcome home sex", he leaned into the taller man's ear.
"It's not that, it's just...", Brian turned his head towards his husband.
" What is it,than, Brian? you go away on buisness trips all the time." Justin got out of bed, and moved towards the huge walk in closet.
"Do have to use this old thing? I told you I'll buy you a new set of bags", Brian's voice sounded shallow.
"Is that what it's about?" Justin paused, holding his black warn out duffle bag in his hand.
Brian didn't answer. it's been almost nine years, but he could still feel the old pain. the pain he was trying to avoid. the pain he was trying to protect himself from. he knew they're light years away from who they were back than, but still, he couldn't help it. that black duffle bag brought back too many painful memories.
"I told you, a small contemporary art gallery in NYC invited me to their summer show. it's too good to miss. you always wanted me to be the best I can, didn't you?" Justin put the bag down, and threw himself gently on the bed, caressing Brian's lips with his fingertips.
"I know. it's ok..." Brian smiled and entwined his fingers with Justin's.
"No, it's not ok, I can see it in your eyes", Justin mouthed.
"I keep thinking... what if I had never let you go, back than, what If I asked you to stay? " the taller man whispered into the blond strands.
"What if I had never walked away?" Justin answered, feeling Brian's warm, familiar breath down on his neck. "you know I still love you. more than I can say. nothing will change that, Brian."
They sank into a deep wet kiss.
"And we have the rings to prove it, so don't you ever forget that", Justin said before he reached his hand to unbutton Brian's fly.
The next day Justin found a new dark brown leather bag in the bedroom.
